The cut-out Hamsa that lies over the Sterling Silver Hamsa is engraved with "Ben Porat Yosef Alei Ayne", the verse used by Jacob on his deathbed to bless his beloved son Joseph in the book of Genesis."Porat" is related to fertility in Hebrew and "Ayne" to a spring of water. Essentially, this is a blessing for lasting abundance. The phrase "Ben Porat Yosef" calls upon the merits of the righteous man Joseph and is often used as protection against the evil eye. The Sterling Silver Hamsa is engraved with the Priestly Blessing that is recited in Synagogues in Israel on every Shabbat by the Priests of the people.
