The background was created using the Millefiori technique; an ancient glass-work design technique that the Adina Plastelina company revitalizes through use of Polymer clay. The silver-plated lettering on the Hamsa spells out the first verse of the most central prayer in Judaism, the Shema; "Hear O Israel, The L-rd is our G-d, the L-rd is One." This verse is a declaration of the unity of G-d and the acceptance of the yoke of Heaven.
